After two successful seasons at the University of Arizona, including one NCAA Championship, Mike Bibby left college to enter the NBA Draft. He was selected by the Vancouver Grizzlies with second overall pick in the 1998 Draft. Bibby had a great rookie season in the Grizzlies teal and white, averaging 13.2 points and 6.5 assists per game. Bibby was named to the All-Rookie Team at the end of the season.
The Grizzlies were founded in Vancouver in '95 alongside the Toronto Raptors as part of NBA's expansion into Canada. The team remained in Vancouver until the end of the '00-'01 season when they relocated to Memphis, Tennessee.
